Know Your Rights
Right to Remain Silent
You have the right to remain silent during interactions with law enforcement or immigration officers. You are only required to provide your name and identification, not your immigration status.
Right to an Attorney
If you are detained or face legal proceedings, you have the right to an attorney. In criminal cases, if you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided. In immigration cases, while you are not entitled to an attorney, you can hire one or seek pro bono legal assistance.
Protection from Unreasonable Searches & Seizures
Law enforcement or ICE officers generally cannot enter or search your home without a valid warrant signed by a judge, and you have the right to ask to see the warrant.
