Senator Kim Statement on Senate Passage of Continuing Resolution to Prevent Government Shutdown

December 21, 2024

WASHINGTON DC – Today, Senator Andy Kim voted to pass a continuing resolution preventing a government shutdown and funding the federal government until March 14, 2025. The resolution also provides more than $100 billion in critical disaster relief called for by Senator Kim, and an extension of existing farm policy.

“The most important thing that Congress can do is make sure that our government is working for the people; by avoiding a shutdown we are doing exactly that,” said Senator Kim. “Unfortunately, we’ll be back in this same place in three months, but we can’t make the same mistakes of unnecessary partisan brinksmanship. New Jersey needs a budget that delivers lower healthcare costs and more affordable housing while making us safer at home and abroad; that’s what I’ll fight for and will work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to deliver.”
